Homemade French baguette - recipe with step-by-step photos

Ingredients for 3 baguettes:
  • 430 grams wheat flour
  • 300 milliliters water
  • 15 grams of fresh yeast
  • half of a teaspoon with honey
  • a bit of salt
  • a bit of olive oil

Mix the flour with the salt.

In another bowl mix the fresh yeast with the honey and the water and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Mix the content of the two bowls and make a sticky dough. Let it rest for 45 minutes in a warm place.

After the time has passed, take out the dough and fold it a few times using a spatula. Put it back to rest for another 45 minutes.

Repeat the operation and put it back to rest for another 45 minutes.

When the time has passed take out the dough and divide it in 2 or 3 pieces, depending on how big you want each baguette.

Fold every piece and put it aside.

Spread the olive oil above each one of them, cover with a plastic foil and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Now, spread with your hands each piece of dough on the table and roll it.

Close the borders and roll it through some flour.

Put them to rest for 35 minutes on a towel covered with flour.

Preheat the oven at 200 Celsius degrees and put a baking tray with water on the bottom shelf of your oven. Let the oven heat for 10 minutes.

Put the bread in a baking tray covered with baking paper and make small cuts on each bread.
Cook the baguette for 25-35 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy!
