Well, for a while we were delighted to try the French typical guest houses ("chambres d'hotes"). After a few hit and misses, this was the last bad experience that put an end to this approach.
The room and the bathroom were filthy. No soap or shower gel in there. In the room there was a strong moist smell. The next day, obviously we skipped breakfast.
Don´t be fooled by the photos!

Hotel review - Mercure Dijon Centre Clémenceau, France
The room was a bit smaller than usual Mercure standard, but the bed was comfortable.
Good breakfast, free internet and free parking places.

Trip to Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Normandy, France
It is not bad at all, and if you are there during the market day, you can buy great stuff, such as the decorative wood flowers or some great apple donuts.

Eating out - La Maree, Grandcamp-Maisy, France
The only restaurant in this small sea-side village. You would expect many more restaurants, considering the location in the middle of the Normandy landing beaches.
By the time we ordered, the restaurant was already full, but despite of that the service was quite fast.
The food was decent.

Trip to Bormes-les-Mimosas, France
It was a pleasant walk on a sunny morning.
Rather steep climb along the small streets.
The old city center is on top of the hill, so if you don't find a parking place before going up, you have another chance on top, where there are a few large parking spaces.
